36th Southern Appalachian Yearly Meeting
June 8 - 11, 2006

Program Information

Plenaries:

Thursday Evening - June 8, 2006
A panel of our SAYMA Friends will share their personal experiences with one of the Quaker testimonies. Heidemarie Huber-Freely will speak on Simplicity. Connie LaMonte will speak on Integrity. Daryl Berquist will speak on Community. David Ciscel will speak on Equality. This will be followed by questions and discussion.

Friday Evening - June 9 2006
Our featured speaker, Hector Black, will share with us a message about his personal experiences with the Peace Testimony: both his struggles and insights from his journey, a journey that he describes as full of laughter and tears. Hector is a member of Crossville monthly meeting and a regular attender at Cookeville preparative meeting. His message will be followed with questions and discussion.

Saturday Evening - June 10, 2006
Our intergenerational talent show returns! Jonah and Ron McDonald, self-described incompetent judges of talent and no talent, will organize the Saturday night fun. It is open to anyone who plays an instrument, sings, dances, conjures, tells jokes and so forth and wishes to demonstrate either talent or lack thereof.

Friendly Guests at SAYMA: Yearly Meeting gives us a chance to meet visiting Friends from other Yearly Meetings and Wider Quaker Organizations. This year the featured organizations will be: FGC - Deborah Fisch; FCNL - Kathy Guthrie; Quaker House - Chuck Fager; Friend's Peace Teams - David Easter.

If you will be representing any Quaker-related organization and wish to have table space to display your material, contact Errol Hess, 864-379-8061 or errol@kitenet.net.

Registration Deadline is May 12, 2005. There will be a $30 late fee for registrations postmarked after that date. Final deadline to reserve a room on campus is May 26, 2005. Meal tickets cannot be purchased after May 29. Meals bought individually on campus will cost more.

Workshop Registration: Space in some of the workshops will be limited, so please pre-register for your choice of workshop. This also gives us an idea of how much room is needed for each session.

Work Grants/Scholarships
Financial aid is available so that all may be able to attend Yearly Meeting. Friends are asked to first request money from their Monthly Meeting. Send a check from your Monthly Meeting with your registration or bring it with you to Warren Wilson. If you need additional aid, fill in the amount under the Scholarship Request box on your registration form. We ask that you volunteer, if possible, for one of the many volunteer jobs that help us during the Yearly Meeting.

Confirmation of your registration will be done by email or phone. No other mailing will be made.
